TV station sees digital audience take off after consulting sessions

The need: I was hired to work with a television station that wanted to accelerate its digital audience through more meaningful digital content, better planning and collaboration with TV journalists.

What I did: Created a detailed audit of their digital content, site experience and activity on platforms like Facebook and YouTube and offered concrete steps they could take to quickly grow their audience. I reviewed the audit in person, led a series of planning meetings to help the team integrate the ideas, as well as several training sessions with the staff.

The results: The ideas were received so well and the results were so positive that I was asked to present the learnings at a corporate-led digital meeting with every one of their company’s general managers, news directors and digital directors.

Survey, focus group grows digital subscribers

The need: With subscription revenues being so important to newspapers, I was asked to help a daily newspaper on the East Coast discover how to create more content that would align directly with what current and subscriber wanted to read.

What I did: Conducted a focus group of subscribers and potential new subscribers to understand what content they were most interested in and what would get them to subscriber. In addition, I created an online survey that was used to collect similar information. All of this was used during a planning meeting with newspaper leadership to devise a content strategy.

The results: The newspaper made several content changes, including the creation of new features that aligned with the feedback.  All of that resulted in considerable audience growth and digital subscription numbers that met and or exceeded their expectations.
