Use this content to maximize newsletters

First, if you create a things to-do newsletter, I’d have a section for “Fall Picks” in it where you can feature a few of these stories above each week. I’d probably start that right after Labor Day.

But I really love this idea of creating special one-off newsletters for the fall that provide readers with really great content but are a bit of a surprise. Here’s my list:

• The Ultimate Fall Guide: Pull together your best fall festivals, pumpkin patches, apple orchards, train rides, day trips, fall colors and outdoor activities.

• The Pumpkin Patch Guide: Package your pumpkin patch stories together, including the best overall patches, toddler-friendly options, corn mazes, free and cheap options and farms worth the drive.

• The Halloween Guide: Bring together your best Halloween events, haunted houses, theme park events, toddler-friendly activities, sensory-friendly options and places to see decorations.

• The Trick-or-Treat Guide: Send this closer to Halloween with trick-or-treat times, the best places to trick-or-treat, trunk-or-treat events, mall events and Halloween freebies.

• The Fall Break Guide: Use your school-days-off story as the anchor for this, then add day trips, outdoor ideas and some of your farm stories.

Fall-themed Reels your readers will love

One of the real benefits of doing content like this is the opportunities you have to repackage the highlights into Reels. Real video from these places is always best!

• Profile a great pumpkin patch: Go to an actual pumpkin patch and show all of the things that you can do there, from picking pumpkins to trying the food and checking out the kids’ activities.

• 3 things to do this fall: Take the best of some of the things above and build them into a Reel with a festival to visit, a food to try and a trip to take.

• 5 Halloween events coming up: Highlight five events from your Halloween coverage with the things that families should know. These work even better if you pick one of those niche focuses, like events for toddlers.

• 25 things to do this fall: This could be a terrific Reel showing readers all of the things that they could do. Images/video of each is best but this also could be a Reel with a single faded image where you run the list over it.

• Halloween decorations around town: Visit some of the neighborhoods and homes from your Halloween decorations story and build a nice carousel of those decorations. In this post also ask readers to share their photos of their decorated homes.
